In creating this sculpture, I was attracted by the shape formed by the upraised head running down through the dip in the back. I'm not sure exactly what the attitude of this particular beast is. On the face of it, he appears benign but also challenging. A territorial display perhaps. He also appears in the sculpture of two hippos where his attitude seems to be one of possessiveness. An edition of twelve bronzes of this recently created African animal bronze sculpture.
